I take the spark plugs out then use a wrench on the generator nut while applying a little pressure to the fan belt. Just be sure to turn it so the engine rotates in the normal direction. Bob and Ann

On cars with the later solenoids (without the button) there is a trigger operated unit you can get that hooks up and cranks the engine. If your local parts store doesn't have one, good old JC Whitney
