Does anybody know of a sure fire way to identify a 1098 block? It had a 948 head on it and it has the side covers but it does not have the fuel pump hole. It looks like there is a place for a tag to

Maybe I'm over-simplifying here, but a 1098 is a long block and a 948 is a short block. I have a 948cc. I think both use the mechanical fuel pump as original, though a 1098 owner may give you more in

1098's had aluminum tags too, stamped "1100". The tag is mounted just forward of the fuel pump location. As I recall, they can be found with both the opening for the fuel pump and also with the casti

OK, you're right - it was/is 950 on the side of the block, not 948. The cheater used the correct "950" - the error in my posting is a result of my imperfect memory or sub-par, morning mental processe
