Talking about a "favorite" Class "D" engine size makes me wonder if an ideal bore/stroke ratio exists in terms of maximum power potential. Big bore, big valve condition aside, should we expect a sign

Personally i would not put in a stroke much shorter than the valve gear will rev..If the stroke allows for a 11,000 redline and the valve gear will only go to 8000 then you are giving up a ton of com

In the motorcycle racing world, there is a continuing trend to ever-shorter strokes nowadays, since the shorter the stroke, the lower the piston speed, and the higher the revs without excessive pisto

I think Keith's reason for big bore small stroke is to create sufficient bore diameter to allow for the big valves he has for better breathing. I guess the thought is that better breathing makes more

For what ever it's worth. Pro Stockers have bores in the 4.5" to 4.6" range I believe. Relatively short strokes for a big block. Not sure what R/S ratio (Dave do you know)? Seem to run 9000+ RPM with

OK Dave, I think I understand what your saying. Had been following what old Smokey Yunick once said "you can't have a rod to long". I might disagree with him on this now. Our little 258 has a rod/str

Apparently there is a point of diminishing returns. Yamaha's latest 1000 cc, the R1, has decreased the bore several millimeters to improve combustion chamber efficiency by reducing flame front travel
