There is a block at the housing end foward before the handle connection. it goes through the tunnel wall and bolts inside the car on the right side. This is the housing stop, Its built onto the cable

The bushing is the stop, The end of the housing goes into it. It looks brasin color 1" x 1" square block with stud that goes through tunnel wall. Thos was on a 73 BGT, Don't know if there was or is a

I replaced the cable in my GT on Saturday. No bushing in there that I could see, but the cable end (abutment stop--whatever they call it) did rotate slightly when I pulled the brake off and on a few
