Responding to myself here... According to one of the Faspec guys, the gray coating is called "Parkerize" and is similar to the camshaft coating. "My" machinist believes it's good stuff. Does anyone h

Hi - I just recieved replacement pistons from Vic Brit and they have a mottled dark gray finish... I've never seen pistons that aren't chrome plated, at least on the OD. The size is within +/- .001"

Okay, I'll ask the "Mr. Obvious" question here. Are they steel? I don't think I've ever seen steel pistons that weren't chrome plated, either. Phenolic pistons, though, are dark grey colored. Jim K.
