Is there a way to tell what type of brake fluid is in your car(dot 3 or silicone)? I don't know what type the dpo might have used in the car, I know the brake system was completely redone. I don't wa

Short of draining the system and getting a chemical analysis, while you have drained the system, replace with Girling or DOT 5 and save doing the analysis. That should let you get a godd nights sleep

You have prbably damaged all the seals in the M/C and slave. My recommendation is to clean out the system now and check the seals. If by some strange quirk of fate, your mixture of 3 to 4 was dilute

Let's discuss that a little... In order to drain the entire system, correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that I would have to take EVERYTHING apart -- all cylinders, (master, slave, and wheel)

How to tell the difference between silicon and DOT3-4, take a small drop out of the master cylinder, and put it on some car paintwork. Leave it for a couple of minuets, come back, if the paint is com

Have you tried TSP yet? It is more caustic than solvent but is rumored to remove brake fluids... You also may be able to remove it with a paint stripper; to my knowledge DOT3 and 4 brake fluids are g

What type of brake fluid were you using? Was it silicone? Because regular LMA brake fluid should be no problem to clean up. Try using denatured isopropyl alchohol and let it dry. This should remove a
