As soft as brake pads are, I would just lay an 80 grit piece of sandpaper on a flat surface and run the pad over it. You might use a finer one to smooth it, but I see no problem if you just let them

can you put a spacer between caliper halves it it is a 2 piece caliper? If they are just barely touching and you can rotate the wheel i doubt if you need a total of 1/8 inch more clearance though pro

First, make real sure your caliper pistons are fully retracted in their bores. It is possible to remove a bit of pad material with a belt sander but make sure you don't taper the pads. You should be
