My money is on the brake line. Probably the flex line that leads to the wheel. It's old and weak, and is collapsing in on itself when the pressure is applied. Dick J In East Texas --

Hammers and vise grips are not the same tool family. No visegrips, or anything else on the hose, but it did get twisted somewhat when I took the caliper off and set it on the lower control arm while

I just experienced a rotted metal line on my tow vehicle. Right though an off ramp and down the otherside. Keep an eye on steel lines. I now use Amsoil heavy duty metal portectorant on the underside
