I had this problem a couple of months ago, the part is still available over the counter here in England, and it is common to the early Mini's as well! It only cost me £5 or £6. One thing to check is

I've determined that the sensor switch for my brake lights is bad. I was curious if it was a somewhat standard part that can be cross referenced, or do I have to order one? Thanks for your input. Bru
