I doubt it. The cable itself has quite a bit of inertia. If the speedo siezed, the spinning cable would sheer whatever had siezed as opposed to visa-versa. My experience has been that when a cable br

Vance--To avoid a possible repeat of the broken cable, it would be good to try turning the speedo by hand.You can easily do this by using a length of an old speedo cable, cut off to about a foot long
