I have to agree that "squarebody" would have to refer to everything post-Bugeye. An overhead view would make it obvious IMHO. Sorry not to be able to get into an argument with you this time, Ed...
It isn't so much the boot-lid as it is the fact that the Bugeye tapers in so nicely at the back. Very different from the MG-designed tail used on all the later Spridgets.
