Well We cranked up the C motor tonight.. Sounds fine but the Headers started Glowing... and to be honest I think we were just to Tired to come up with the correct answer as to what our Problem is....

Sounds to lean to me too. Covering the carb richens the mixture just like a choke would and also you said it sounded crisp. A motor running rich will have soft mushy sound. Just my two cents worth. B

Kieth,could be lean or might have cam retarded(although wouldn't sound crisp with retard). Two things I find helpfull in getting inital setup are an air/fuel gage and an exhaust temp gage-they take a
