- I have read that leaner mixture means higher HC/lower CO. Are you running too lean? Also, you may be able to lower HC by retarding ignition. And then there is the trick to add alcohol to the gas, but

- Try a couple of degrees of spark retard and then have a shop sniff it for you. That's a quick way for lots of cars. Too much retard and you go wrong again. Also try the highest octane gas you can get

- Not quite. The rolling smog exemption is at thirty years, not twenty five, for any vehicle after the 1973 model year. My '79 won't be exempt until 2009! She passes somg check II just fine, so I'm not
