The cam can be replaced in situ. You have to remove the radiator, distributor, distributor drive, oil pump, timing chain and timing gears, water pump, pushrods, tappets, and maybe a few other things,

I've done it in the car, but don't remember removing the oil pan as others have suggested. Why would you need to do this? I also don't think I jacked up the engine. This would be on a 1969 roadster.
