That is assuming he has the engine out. The message didn't say one way or another. If I'm doing an engine overhaul, I always have the cam bearings replaced. But I have also replaced the cam on an eng

Because it is quite easy to change the cam without doing the bearings, you don't even need to pull the engine. The same cannot be said of replacing the bearings as well. To quote the Haynes manual: 1
