I've been out of the car stereo market for a while, too. But, I always had good luck with Rockford Fosgate. I am kinda biased because Rockford took over Hafler. I was a big Hafler fan back in the 80s

I went through this recently. I don't think you can get a regular amp anymore, and the types you mentioned sound horrible. I don't think the kids care about the sound quality. The current 2500 watts

There are about 10 or more different areas of audio compromised in any record/playback system. Vinyl, tape, and CD all have some drawbacks. Long live the 8-track tape, too.

While it's true that CD's have a tendency to not sound like vinyl, you have to understand that vinyl records had a stronger tendency to not sound much like the master tapes from which they were made.
