I don't know what Rick's plastic clips are. When my car was painted, I removed all of the original pop rivet type things from the sides and reinstalled my trim using nylon 4-40 pan head screws. I got

If the fasteners for the side trim on your Tiger are the originals, then they are little round metal "buttons," for lack of a better term. The original side trim basically slid onto these fasteners;

1) Yes the originals are button head rivet type and there are no new ones. 2) Yes, taking them off with a drill (you can't reach the backside to file them off) often ends up spun shanks and larger h
