Having no A-arm bushings most definitely would cause a clunking sound on acceleration and deceleration! You can be all but sure you have found the problem. By the way, A-arm = wishbone = control arm

With my wife as assistant, I found that with the breaks on there is absolutely no wheel wiggle. I'll have to look into wheel bearing replacement it seems. I was going to get some of this stuff at Mos

If the front wheels are soinnung smoothly, that is no grindig or rumbling noises etc. you may just want to try adjusting the bearings rather than replacing. right disassembled the bearings. nearby

Sorry I didnt mean adjust I was thinking of my MGB, I meant check the torque of the castellated nut on the front axle to make sure it was not loose. like kingpins applies (_o____o_)....
