I gotta swap out four speeds, so I thought since I was there I would change out the clutch disc. Since I am there, is there anything that has to be done to the housing that gets bolted to the flywhee

I would check the flywheel and have it turned ($28 at napa), also check the pilot bearing, and throwout bearing. Mike K

next weekend we will be pulling the engine to replace the clutch. I have Dean's 12 step er I mean 44 steps in his manual. the car seems to run well. actually, it ran well. now it's obviously inop! o

What engine do you have? If it's a 1600/4speed, then beware that removing the drive shaft allows tranny fluid to pour out the tranny tailshaft. So either drain the tranny fluid, or cap the tailshaft

A spray paint can cap and a bit of Duct tape seals the tailshaft nicely. You may want to check all the freeze plugs while it is out. A pain to change, but cheap and much easier with engine out.

The one I bought a few months ago from the dealer came in separate pieces. Even though I have a 1600, I bought the 2L clutch which is a bit heavier duty than the stock 1600 clutch and it bolts right

When you say your hydraulics hold pressure, do you know for sure that the master cylinder is ok? Just my 2cents worth. Tom

I have a Datun 2000 and also a 1600 that is just a body. will a clutch from a 1600 work on the 2000?
