I've had a number of people tell me over the years that they use the rocker studs. When I was taking the engine out of my GT before it was a V8, the engine had gotten hung up on something and I was t

Using the rocker studs gives me the jim-jams also. In the workshop manual for TD-TF, there is a photograph of an engine being swung into a TD by means of a rope grommet wrapped around the engine, pro

I totally agree. I never use the studs. For one thing, hanging the engine weight vertically on just the 1/4" threads strikes me as very dubious. Secondly, it doesn't give you a very broad purchase fo

Yo ho ho and the wind blows free, Oh for the life on the rolling sea. Yep, rope. It is probably spliced into a grommet (circle) , or it could be two grommets. Fig. A.26 shows the chain's hook is cent

Actually, I'm sure a proper rope sling would be quite satisfactory. It was just the nautical image causing a moment of cognitive dissonance... I'm not sure that I would trust any old piece of rope I

Obviously you are not familiar with modern ropes...... Yes, some can be very stretchy, but not others such as kevlar ropes. Kevlar rope has replaced wire rope in many small boat uses. The problem is
