- My '72 1275 seems to have developed an overheating problem due to a coolant leak, which seems to occur just after the thermostat opens (temp goes up, then up some more, then falls, then rises bunches

- If the thermostat doesn't open like it is suppoesed to, the temp will rise. When the temp rises, eventually it will build up enough pressure to leak somewhere. If your tstat housing gasket is a weak
