Hi Scott: I was in an identical position to you except for the moved filler cap. I added as surge tank from a 351(?) Ford. It looks and is sized similar to the TIGER surge tank but is flat on the top

Is it puking water??? Are you loosing water in some fashion? If not, you are not overheating. If you are, you DO need the fan shroud and to update the radiator core to a 4 row. Let us know. Regards,

BUT, it is only an assist for a well designed mechanical shrouded fan, that uses a hell of a lot more power to move air than the electric, and moves more of it. Running without a shroud is practical

I believe you said the Volvo fan is well positioned. If that means that it is 2/3 in and 1/3 out of the shroud, centered in the shroud, has enough side room clearance to allow engine torque rocking,
