My question is only semi-related to our LBCs because we use coolant...... It's time to change the coolant in my daughter's Honda Civic ('99 EX) - routine maintenance. It's the light red colored stuf

** Chip, The "rd" or "orange" colored coolant signifies that it is indeed the extended life coolant. The familiar "green" stuff is the older anti-freeze that needs to be changed every season or so.

Some manufacturers warn to use phosphate-free antifreeze to prevent corrosion of aluminum. On a list for one of these makes it is an ongoing discussion whether this is valid or bunk. I am using that

I don't know if it is as effective at preventing corrosion in our old Geo., I just pulled the engine in my "3" completely down, after 8 years & 90K, the cooling system passages in the block as well
