James & all, You also need to use a "recovery" radiator cap. These caps (at least in Australia) are very difficult to come by in the long neck 7/50 format. I had to have the neck removed from my radi

When you did this, was the original rad cap able to allow the overflow bottle's coolant to suck back up into the radiator, or did you have to replace with the cap that allows flow in both directions

I'd suggest that you make sure the heater valve is open when you do this. Air can stay trapped in the heater core and will get into the rest of the system when you open the valve. Allen Hefner SCCA P

Rubbermaid sells for a couple of bucks a quart clear plastic container with a small flip-snap cap in the screw-on top. Drill a hole through the cap to allow the radiator overflow hose to fit through.
