Back 25 years ago when I ran copper head gaskets I would put some sewing thread around the water passages with the silicone, it acted like a mini O-ring. This was necessary if you ran an engine with

Don't use silicone, use Gortex teflon packing material. I think it's good for several hundred psi. Bryan
