- I removed my cowl vent trim by: a). removing the center windshield wiper, b). prying it out with a screwdriver, blade swaddled in cloth to prevent scratches. I got the clips out with a magnetic parts

- I don't know if they should be cut, but i got tired of mine clogging and retaining water and cut mine at the wide part a couple of years ago. I haven't been struck down for the deed yet so the MG God

- No, do not remove it by pulling it off from below. I also do not recommend cutting the slit open more, although, I guess it wouldn't kill the car altogether. I clean mine once a year. No problems...
