- Hi Ron, I used a Bosch blue coil for many a mile with my Crane unit. It had no bad affect on the Crane. My only problem was it delivered a rather thin weak spark. Might have done that with the points

- Thanks - very good explanation. I went out and measured the coil resistance - 3.5 Ohms. The Crane documentation talks about the recommended max current, 4.5 amps, with an internal current limit of 7a
