- I just went through this today! You are right, it is a conventional, right-hand thread but it is probably in there too tight for you to remove simply by applying torque against the gearbox/handbrake

- Simplest way to do this is: Take a breaker bar and your trolley/floor jack handle. Put the breaker bar inside the handle, attach the socket. Put the socket on the nut, and lay the jack handle agains
