Your problem sounds electrical. A fuel problem would have had a different feel when it died. You could tell it was starving for fuel. It could be anything from distributor to ignition switch.

The tach went from about 3000 RPM's to 1000 then back up to 3000 then back down. I pulled over and with in a couple of seconds of me pulling over she died. I had a 74 that did the same thing once. It

As far as I can tell the tach was working fine even up till the time the engine died. This all happened in about 1 - 2 minutes time and I really did not have much of a chance to listen to the engine
