Hmmm. I'm running a Quaife unit with a 4:11 (at least that's what Baxter says it is) and I drained the oil (Redline) last week as part of my general maintenance. The oil was a little toasted (discolo

When you go to that disc type LSD you'll want to add either capacity or a cooler. They generate a LOT of heat. Toasty pinion seals has been my experience without this mod. -- Original Message -- From

What do you recommend for a cooler--is a finned cover enough or does it need some kind of radiator and circ pump. When you go to that disc type LSD you'll want to add either capacity or a cooler. The

I think for short races probably the finned cover and an increaase in capacity would be the ticket. If for anything more than 30 minutes I'd fit a little cooler. Dosen't have to be huge or anything b

I am curious how one would connect a cooler to a diff (particularly one on a Spitfire). What troubles me is the fact that there is no inherent pumping action that would force the oil through a cooler

My plan is to tighten up the clutch pressure until it's working more or less like a locker. I know that it still needs to slip some to go around a turn, but I expect that the high spring pressure wil

I think you're probably right, there should be a differential pressure (no pun intended) between the outside of the case and the centerline of the pinion. I'm not sure it would be enough, but it woul

I've used a little cooler and a dumb bell electric pump. The AC gear pumps worked well. ( if they still make 'em) If you are a true cheapshate (like me) you can use finned tubes. The problem there is

If that's the little U tube with fins that appears on everything from fridges to Fords than I think we're talking about the same thing. You can even get them in chrome from aftermarket Harley shops.

You're most likely correct. In this day and age an external pump is so simple and cheap it's not worth messing with the experiments. But I'll bet CASH money, (or the modern day equivalent) that you

I'm not entirely ready to give up on the idea of self pumping. The big problem with external pumping systems is that they get real fussy. As Kas already pointed out, the pump will be hard pressed to
