- As the contacts in the pump close, a one direction, DC current begins to flow and the magnetic field that runs the pump begins to build. In a few hundreds of a second, the pump completes one stroke

- Hi R. Johnson!! The basic pump has no polarity; it's the DIODE that has polarity. If installed one way, you have a positive polarity pump. Installed the other way, you have a negative polarity pump!!
