Tonight was the first time my wife drove her red 77 Midget in about a year, and it wasn't very pleasant! We bled (mostly anyway) the brakes so they're working and proceeded to drive down our street.

In the past I have seen the following causes for your problem: 1. Someone overtightened the clamp and crushed the body of the distributor which can no longer offer resistance to the clamp sufficient

My distributor clamp was so out of round it wouldn't hold the dist. I took it out, muscled back into shape (approx.) and half round filed it to round again. Works fine now. Geoff Branch '74 Meejit "Y
