Ok, I picked her up from the mechanics this morning (and no Jeff, I won't make it a habit!), and it was just a matter of playing with the dizzy - new points, new rotor, new cap. Eighty odd dollars (m

Now you're talking! I've already decided to add a bugeye to the garage when I've got the cash, but maybe I need a second square body so I can have one for 'good' and one for 'play'! Cheers Leigh Elle

If you have the original tranny (smoothcase right) I have heard that they are difficult to rebuild because of the scarcety of parts, perhaps a 5 speed lurks in your future. I have been told that if y

Glad the problem was fixed. The oil pressure topic had no consensus. I believe one manual said that the low limit was 10 psi at 850 rpm idle for the 948, but most people seem to use 20 as the cut off

I have a similar situation, my 1st gear sounds like a coffee grinder and 2nd gear has no synchro. The synchro cone has been replaced a couple of times but apparently the 'genuine' Austin Rover repla

Dear Leigh Ellen Phil Plumbe has passed on to me a copy of your email outlining your gearbox problems, as I have a Mark 1 Sprite If it's still original, your Mark 2 should have a smooth case gearbox

Hi L.E, I just had my engine rebuilt and after its warmed up, the idle oil pressure may be as low as 20psi. It really varies with the rpm, resembles a tachometer! Its got good pressure at high rpm..u

Leigh Ellen, I'm running the Datsun 5-Speed with the 948 engine. The ratio gap between 2nd and 3rd in the Datsun 5-speed can be tough with this combination, if you drive much in hill country. I have

Hi Bob, If Leigh Ellen has an original Mk II tranny, there is no big gap between 2nd and 3rd as the Mk I has. Lots of folks aren't aware of the differences in gear sets between these two boxes. Just
