Here's a guess; if you have old rubber door seals maybe you need fresh ones so door doesn't ever reach 2nd position, then you can adjust plates to line up flush? Note; the way you say 'upper part' o

I've got the same problem on the passenger door on my 250. Amateur restoration about 20 years ago. Front fit is perfect, but the rear edge of the door sticks out a good 1/4 of an inch. Any suggestion
