I read of the magnetic plug from time to time, and JC Whitney always has them listed in catalogue, but have never used one. What sort of stuff do you find on the plug? Is its value that it collects

I've got magnetic plugs in all my vehicle's engines and IMHO no motor should be without one. You wouldn't believe the amount of metal chips and fine slivers that ends up being trapped on the magnet.

Has anyone tried the removable "belt" of magnets strapped around the outside of the oil filter that Moss and others sell ? You would have to cut the old filter apart to see what's been trapped, Anyon
