The answer is, "Probably not!" Reason being that the MkIV has a 3 rail gearbox and the '79 1500 uses a single rail gearbox. With their OD units attached, the two are slightly different in length. One

I think it will. I believe Rimmer's shows these two replacement driveshafts as having the same part number. You're not going to have the correct type of joints for the 72, but what the heck.

There are indeed two shafts that are common between the two models (according to Rimmer), however they are for the OD equipped 3-rail and the NON OD single rail. The question was if the two OD shaft
