- depending on the sealer/adhesive used in the last assembly it could be literally glued to the block. but! since you are this far why not finish the job? try to get a putty knife between the block and

- Don't try levering it off, you will distort the pressed steel pan. When it is off, clean off all the old gasket, and check the surface is flat. Particularly around each bolt hole. Dress any high spot
