I can vouch for this. My E21 320i (first-gen BMW 3 series, for you non-Bimmerheads - the E30 they're referring to is second-gen) has the same type of geometry. I added the optional rear sway bar for

If you think that barrier is close you should see the other identical one that holds up the same bridge on the site. I usually come within 10-15 feet of it at one point in the run. BTW the event is
