Well, there might be more to Yeager's comment about digital "instrumentation" than it appears. I'm not sure if he meant "guages" when he said "instrumentation"-- it isn't necessarily the same thing.

My choice for guages are definitely analog mechamical types with 270 degree dials. The choice of black/white or white/black probably doesn't matter. Aircraft guages were traditionally white on black

I'd vote for tach, shift light and the oil gage. If the car is pretty stable and handling well then you have time to check the tach. It can tell you a lot about how the car is running, especially on

A book from my sign painting days says black on yellow is the most readable combination if colors for a sign. Leads me to think black on white would be the most readable combination for most purposes

I have installed all of my gauges ( avionic by the way ) that have a programmable alarm O/P these are all in series so if any parameter is exceded it shuts down the whole show , as well all the gauge
