I zinc plated several cars suspension componets without any problems at all. Easy to keep clean and looks great. When you buff it a little with a course rag it gives a nice luster. CHEAP too. -- Orig

I first think that it should be clear that the CHROME used to build up a crank is HARD CHROME not decorative chrome. BIG DIFFERENCE. It was and probably still is quite common to hard chrome the journ

As far as chrome embrittling steel components, it can happen. The parts must undergo a low temp heat treatment to avoid hydrogen embrittlement. It is just one more thing to worry about with chrome pl
