I thought the point of the brick vacuum headlights was that vacuum held them So they default to up in the absence of vacuum, hence the annoying winking headlight when the car sits for awhile if you'v

I know for a fact my '75 headlights are all original... The headlights stay down; though they both open momentarily and then close when I start the car. BTW, The vacuum pins on the dash operate them
