Thanks for the quick reply. There is a hole for the bulb socket for illumination in the back of the tach.. I "spliced" into the speedo bulb line and added a bulb socket for the tach. I think the grou

If the spade is just riveted to the metal housing, it is a ground. If it enters the housing through an insulated base, it is something else.
