Hey guys, I have a new (to me) Bugeye I am trying to sort out. It has a fairly stock engine (except it uses HS2 vs HS1 SU carbs). Tuning is on the agenda - the car came from Texas and doesn't seem to

I have been using a Pertronix for some time and am happy with it. Everything fits inside the distributor, only a keen observer would notice the wiring differences from a points set-up. Absolutely no

My Pertronix works great. I agree with Doug totally, but I'd like to know if anyone has ever had a PerTronix system fail them on the road? Gabe Slape New Mexico USA /// unsubscribe/change address req

A couple of years ago, when I joined this and the Triumph lists, the pertronix for lucas was only lasting a few weeks at best. I think it was a QA issue, and may have been solved. Robert Houston "It

I've heard many similar stories about Pertronix. Some people have some that last forever, while others will go through a couple or several very quickly. Pertronix attributes the short-term failures t

I installed a Crane XR700 with Lucas 40,000 volt Sport coil on my MGB back in 1997. The only maintenance I do is to change the cap & rotor once a year. I drive it 10,000 - 14,000 miles a year & race

I don't know about the Mallory electronic distributor, but I have a Crane XR700 electronic ignition unit in my Midget and like it pretty well. It has been in place over 2 years. --David C. /// unsubs

I put an Allison, now Crane, unit in my 1275 about 22 years ago. It failed at the 250K mark, but didn't strand me, just limped along! They gave me a new XR700 for $7.00 which was the price difference

I have the Allison too (still). I bought mine in the late around 1977 and it still works flawlessly. It doesn't get as much use as Paul's, but it's just as old. (as Paul's... not as Paul...'-) Gerard

I believe Ignitor and Pertronix are previous and new versions of the same. I have an Ignitor in my boat, but when I did the Bugeye, it had become Pertronix. If Ignitor is still a name elsewhere, I di
