I'm not certain, since I've never tried a Pertronix to compare it with, but I believe they're roughly comparable. Both are affected to some extent by wobble, but both are less sensitive than points.

The Crane by itself won't give you a hotter spark. For that you have to add a sport coil, providing (I think) 40,000 volts. Then you can open your spark plug gap to 0.035 or 0.040. Worked for me. Sum
