Ray: Yep, your 74 should have a "Restraint Rod" as Haynes calls it...my book (copyright 1989) shows it on page 28 fig 1.4. Doesn't really give much insight on installation. Joe: I tightened mine up

Basically it's to keep the engine/tranny from shifting forward during hard braking and rearward under hard acceleration (oxymoron?) Rick Morrison 72 MGBGT 74 Midget
