Actually self-etching primer come in 3 colors gray, black and green. They are very nice to work with a rather tough paint too. You might consider just using the black primer if you want a satin black

Powder coating would be great. One problem is the type of solder used on the tanks. Powder coat goes on at 435 degrees min. If the solder is high temp no problem. Moonstone

Have the tank blasted under low pressure with Alum. Oxide. Give a uniform satin surface, then spray with automotive primer (can be bought in a can) and then two coats of black. Didn't use powder coat
