No, I haven't fitted any side brackets to the top yet. I set the top on the car to size the brackets for fabrication, but when it was so far from fitting, I decided not to "build" the brackets. Kelv

I think Norm just answered your question. The rear quarter window areas of the top will flex outward when the side brackets are tightened. This will lower the top and reduce the gap above the window
