Hello all, I've been blessed with the opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do - take an art class involving welding! I won't be starting until this fall, but I'm still pretty pumped up a

The actual physical process is completely different as you know, but the learnings about "molten metal behaviour" will be useful. The actual welding is different, but you'll be able to bravely take o

Sounds like art to me! I knew a guy in Tulsa several years back that had an MGB door hanging on his living room wall! You really should use MIG on sheet metal to avoid WARPAGE (ugh) Jim SNIP

No relation between arc and oxy-acetayne. But if you get good with the torch then you won't need the arc welder. For most everything you do a torch will work and will not destort the metal as much. F

I *HIGHLY* disagree with this. (and I've got the burns to prove it!) MIG welding is a lot cooler on the metal than torch welding, especially on the surrounding area. Compare the Heat Affected Zone (H

Well I have to disagree with your disagree. I'll give you the sill for welding but brazing is an acceptable, if not perfered method of patching metal body parts. The propane torch is especially good

Sure, like fenders and things, because they are effectively cosmetic. I wouldn't be adverse to say, attaching a dogleg with braze. Decently strong for some applications, but I don't see how it could

I'm sorry, but brazing is not appropriate or safe for structural welds. In the case of a spridget, this means the floor section. There is a specialist form of brazing that is used for structural work

Once you've mastered torch welding, you will learn that if you stick your finger on a fresh weld you will encounter discomfort. This translates directly to mig welding. Not much else does, though. Yo
