Hi Judy, Welcome to the list; I'm pretty much a newbee myself. I would recommend several books to start. First get the Haynes repair manual. You can get it at just about any Pep Boys or AutoZone auto

A major overhaul means different things to people. In your library for the car should be a "Bentley" manual, which is the Official MGB Workshop Manual; the Haynes manual, which is much the same mate
