Replying to my own message ... that's a bad sign ;) Anyway, it appears maybe these plugs may not be original. My BJ8 had undercoating and I'm wondering if a PO may have had some sort of treatment app

The holes / plugs are original, and your guess at the number is about right. They are not consistent - ie: not present in all of the closed frame sections - doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reas
